Jane Eyre

We are having a Jane Eyre DVD search-a-thon
in pursuit of the best Jane Eyre screen adaptation.
I told the children they had to watch Jane Eyre because it's their parent's favorite love story. They enjoyed it a great deal...until the wedding when it is discovered that Rochester has a crazy wife at home in the "tower"...Lauren was beside herself with anger and frustration...then Thornfield burns down -it was almost more than she could bear. Anyway, they loved it!
Let me know if you have a favorite adapation of Jane Eyre,
and why it's your favorite.
The kids are currently leaning toward the
Masterpiece Theater version, but they haven't seen the
Orson Wells version yet.

Orson Wells...cause it's the only one I've seen. But I don't think I'd like to see another version because I've forever associated the characters to the ones in the O.W. version. I don't know. Maybe if there is a clear 'other' favorite I might try seeing that one.
